As we begin the second semester of our 2024-2025 school year, I continue to be impressed by the daily work of our students and staff. Your energy, creativity, and new ideas inspire me. I am grateful to our staff for your dedication to our students and to our students for your commitment to your own leadership and academic growth. We remain rooted in our values, holding our LION Pillars at the core of all we do. In particular, we continue to create opportunities for our students to lead as we prepare them to be global citizens and agents of change with a heart for social justice. We also deeply value the connections we have developed with our families and the Hunts Point community and the continued opportunities for collaboration. We look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the second half of this school year.
This issue highlights new opportunities at LION and the refinement of existing structures and programs. It will also introduce you to several members of our community. We are excited to share that the Herb Fixler Family Engagement Center is now open and serves as a space for partnership between families, staff, and community members. You will learn more about our K-12 academic program and the leadership opportunities that our students have at every stage of their time with us. You will meet members of our K-12 staff and hear from Osvaldo Garcia, LION ‘19; Baruch ‘23.
