Elementary School Students Pledge LION Is No Place for Hate®

LION Charter School is one of over 1,800 schools nationwide who have joined the movement to make our community No Place for Hate®. LION became an official No Place for Hate® site in 2013 thanks to the dedicated efforts of our counseling team and staff. Rooted in our pillars of leadership and social justice, we remain committed to creating an environment of equity and inclusion, confronting and combating biases and bullying, and upholding our students’ vision of a world without hate. Each year our students recommit to this vision. Last week LION elementary school students renewed their commitment to the principles of No Place for Hate® by signing and reciting the pledge below.

The No Place for Hate® Pledge

I promise to do my best to treat everyone fairly.

I promise to do my best to be kind to everyone – even if they are not like me.

If I see someone being hurt or bullied, I will tell a teacher.

Everyone should be able to feel safe and happy at school.

I want our school to be No Place for Hate®.

No Place for Hate® is a self-directed program created by the Anti-Defamation League. The program is designed to help schools “build a learning community of inclusivity, respect, and equity.” No Place for Hate® aims to help students and staff recognize the value of diversity within their communities and the world and become agents of change working to bring about a more equitable and just society. Through this program, students and staff adopt a vocabulary for speaking about differences, prejudice, and discrimination and develop strategies to communicate across differences. They also build the capacity to recognize and confront bias within themselves and others and put those skills into practice.
