We are thrilled to announce that two of our LION seniors have been selected as College Board National Recognition Program awardees. Mouctar Barry and Briyant Frimpong (pictured above) received the National African American Recognition Award. Mouctar and Briyant earned this award due to their academic achievements and performance on Advanced Placement (AP) exams or the PSAT exam. Eligible students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and excel on the PSAT exam or earn a three or higher on at least two AP exams, designating college-level achievement.
We are also excited to share that a number of students received awards for their performance on AP exams this past spring. Seven students received the AP Seminar and Research Certificate, having earned a score of three or higher on both exams: Laura Headley and Alexandra Murillo (Class of 2022); Stephen Agyapong, Briyant Frimpong, Julian Harris, Nana Kudom, and Missael Villanueva (Class of 2023). Eleven students received AP Scholar Awards, having earned a score of three or higher on three or more exams: Michelle Amoh, Rebecca Boadu, Fatoumata Cisse, Jeleny Mendoza, Alexandra Murillo, Aleeka Prophet, Skarlene Rodriguez, and William Velez (Class of 2022); Briyant Frimpong and Missael Villanueva (Class of 2023). Three Class of 2022 students, Henderlis Feliz, Andrelis Pena, and Tatyana Torres, were recognized with the AP Scholar with Honors Award, having earned an average score of 3.25 or higher on all exams and a score of three or higher on at least four exams. Finally, four Class of 2022 students, Henderlis Feliz, Jeleny Mendoza, Tatyana Torres, and William Velez, earned an AP Capstone Diploma. This award recognizes the outstanding achievement of students who earn college-level scores on the AP Seminar exam, AP Research exam, and four additional AP exams of their choosing.
We are grateful for the Zegar Family Foundation’s essential support of LION’s AP Capstone Program, providing key funding for teacher training and program resources.
