Miatta Massaley

Elementary School Director

Miatta Massaley joined LION in July 2023 as the Elementary School Director. Ms. Massaley began her career in education as a founding Kindergarten teacher at Success Academy Harlem 5 in 2010. From there, she grew into grade team lead and Dean of Students roles. She also served as Assistant Principal at Canarsie Ascend Charter School and Principal at Bushwick Ascend Middle School. She served as principal for three years and then started a family. Finally, she served as Principal of Boys Prep Elementary School in the South Bronx before joining the LION team.

Ms. Massaley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Arts degree in Education from Hunter College.

Ms. Massaley is a passionate school leader who firmly believes in the power of education. She believes that providing children with an excellent education is the key to unlocking endless opportunities for our students. Because of this, she is a firm advocate for students, families, and the community and will pursue anything that those key stakeholders need.
